How far should your sofa be from the TV?
Give your screen size in inches: we compute the ideal viewing distance — the one that hits the right viewing angle.
The ideal sofa-to-TV distance is about 1.8× the diagonal in 4K and 2.5× in Full HD. For a 55-inch (140 cm) 4K screen, that's roughly 2.5 m. Conversely, at 3 m back, a 65-inch screen is ideal.
Screen centre at 105 cm (seated eye level), i.e. a bottom edge 71 cm from the floor.

How far for a 4K TV?+
About 1.8× the diagonal, with a comfortable range of 1.5 to 2.2×. 4K lets you sit closer than Full HD without seeing pixels.
What TV size for my room?+
Measure your distance, divide by ~1.8 (4K) then by 2.54 for inches. At 3 m, the ideal screen is around 65 inches.
How high to mount the TV?+
Centre the screen at seated eye level, about 100-110 cm from the floor at the centre. Higher strains the neck.
Can you sit too close to a TV?+
Too close, the eye can't take in the whole image and tires; too far, you lose the resolution. The ideal range avoids both.
