Decorating well is not a gift.
It is a set of rules. Old, proven, teachable. Ma Bible Déco exists to hand them back to you.
§ 01The conviction
We were taught that decoration is a matter of taste, which is to say, a privilege. Either you had it or you didn’t. That idea suits everyone but you. It turns a skill into a mystery, and a mystery into a paid service.
We believe the opposite. Behind every successful interior, there are rules. Proportions, colour ratios, heights, distances, light temperatures. Interior designers don’t guess: they apply. What we mistake for an eye is, more often than not, a learned grammar.
§ 02Against the noise
The internet overflows with decoration images. Billions of them. And yet, facing an empty wall, we are as helpless as before. Because an image shows a result, never the rule that produced it. We hoard inspiration without ever gaining understanding.
Infinite scroll does not decorate a room. It feeds the craving without giving the means. We chose the opposite of one more Pinterest: fewer images, more principles. One well-explained rule is worth a thousand saved pins.
§ 03In favour of the rule
A rule is knowledge that can be passed on. It does not depend on your budget, your city, or the brand of your sofa. The 60 / 30 / 10 works in a studio as well as in a manor. The rule is democratic by nature: it puts the same knowledge in every hand.
We don’t deal in trends, because a trend is built to expire. We deal in rules, because a rule outlives fashion. The ones we publish have been used for decades, from the Bauhaus to today’s great decorators. They will still hold up in ten years.
§ 04The editorial stance
Ma Bible Déco is a manual, not a blog. Every rule is treated as a reference page: a principle, a practice, precise numbers, what to do and what to avoid. You can read it in three minutes or study it in depth. You come back to it.
We write without jargon and without condescension. We explain the why before the how, because a rule understood is a rule remembered, while an instruction is forgotten. And we own a tone: sober, demanding, on the reader’s side.
§ 05Our promise
You will find here neither a lesson in taste, nor a judgment on yours. The manual sets rules, never a mandatory aesthetic. What you do with them is entirely yours.
We commit to staying clear, independent, and honest about how we make a living. The full pact is public, on our Transparency page. Our only loyalty is to the rule, and to you.
We don’t sell taste. We hand back the rules that make it unnecessary.
